The New Blood Diamond

There was once a time where people buying a diamond necklace for their significant other, without knowing, supported and aided the bloodshed and enslavery of innocent lives in Africa. thanks to the fast work of committees and senators the kimberly process was created to trace diamonds and band conflict stones known as "blood Diamonds." For a illustration I highly recomend you rent or buy the movie Blood Diamond with Leonardo Dicaprio and Dijmoun Hounsou. Oil at once was considered blasphemy if you drove a truck or SUV because you consumed more gas and supported terrorism. That was a questionable rumor and accusation that was indeed proven ridiculous but nonetheless it had some truth to withstand multiple debates. Now, there is new product of the material world that is supplying war driven criminals that slaughter and rape women at will. This conflict lives In Congo. In congo many people are not aware that the most dangerous war has going on for the last 15 years claiming over 5 million lives according to CNN. What is Fueling the war? What is giving these militia the money to buy these weapons and expand their armies? Are you ready for the encore now? CELL PHONES! yes cell phones believe or not are aiding the militia. HOW?! well cell phones contain minerals such as tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold. Tungsten is not in phones unless you have a custom made but the other three, gold used to be in a special edition nokia that I owned, it was very heavy and gold plated, are used to make cell phones. The militia are recorded to profit over $180 million a year from these minerals. Activists are working with governmental officials who have already contacted multiple companies like Intel, HP, Dell, and Motorola to discuss a way to trace minerals using a similar process to the Kimberly ( used to trace Blood Diamonds). Now this is great, a huge step. The Obama administration is even involved right now. So what can we do? well it is very simple because we all know how the government process is and what it needs is a strong push supported by many people. One, we can contact phone companies and demand conflict free phones which might not be successful right now but it is a start. they might hang up on you but at least they know the consumers are serious about the issue. the second which is very important is to write to your senator and urge him to to sign Congo Conflict Minerals Act (S. 891) and Conflict Minerals Trade Act (H.R. 4128). Please help out and prevent us from going to war with another country by resolving the issue diplomatically and save millions of lives!

Twilight, New Moon Please let it stop!

I am not sure how other people feel but when it comes to books and movies, I like to enjoy a well written project. Twilight as everyone knows is ridiculously popular due to all the teeny boppers, the same ones that make bands that couldn't play to save their life, rich and famous. Which that is fine however, those books the lines and writing is so genreic, corny, and absolutely horrible. It is like watching high schoolers make a cliche vampire movie and wanting to screw it up for a good laugh, so they made the vampires GLITTER in the sunlgiht. No! vampires do not glitter they die! Vampire movies are usually some of the best entertaining movies to watch yet, twilight just committed an assault of insults. Imagine what the Underworld trilogy (need I say they are my favorite movie series next to the "Bad Boys" duo), would be like if kate beckensale was rocking hollister and drove a VW bug to go shoot lycans. Yeah, thank you twilight supporters for ruining a genre of horror movies and making vampires another over played track on the radio.

Conspiracies- Do they exist or is it just another paranoia of americans?

Many questions are raised and asked on a daily basis about the actions behind the curtains of our government. After 9/11 many rumors and assumptions flew threw America like california's wild fires. Some related to the US knowing about the attack but "allowing it to happen," there were even some blaming the government that they committed the acts themselves. Muslisms blamed the jewish community, the jewish people blamed the muslisms, and Americans blamed everyone. Why would a government allow a terrorist attack on its own people? Well there are some valid points more directed to the former president, George W. Bush. It is believed that he has always wanted to go to war in the middle east in search of owning oil fields to sumpplement his personal businesses. It could be viewed that the attack was known yet allowed to happen to ingite the fuel for the war jets. The evidence is there to validate this point however, we almost understand evidence is a non-biased material or non-material thing that can be used and dictated to validate any point. how do you think murderers get lucky and escape prison sentences? The rumors of the governement causing the horrid day could be possible for the same reasing as allowing it to happen, which would be almost the same thing. If I had to believe one, it would be the first because I just could not imagine a person in this country to be that hitler like. Our system has been known though to manipulate other countries and militaries to their liking, so it could be asked what stops them from doing the same? Maybe they are already. Maybe the Patriot Act was a tool used to distract us from other dealings, maybe the hollywood films that portray a corrupt system based of true facts. Are they? Or are these fears and misconceptions that we develop ourselvres in our mind to help cope with life's storms and need a scape goat to take the flac? Would our government act like some of the corrupt corporations and hide things like aliens or technology that would free us from oil? Is our government manipulated by rich companies controlling the lobbies and forcing us into recession after recession? Do these conspiracies exist? Would today be different if America ran like Thomas Jefferson wanted and intended it to? post your opinions!
